This is a horizontally mounted, single compartment photo-electrochemical cell. This cell allows several approaches to perform measurements in 2- or 3-electrode setups. It is designed to investigate performance of a thin film photo-anode (e.g. nanocrystalline material or conducting polymer) deposited on a rigid or flexible transparent substrate (typically FTO coated or uncoated borosilicate or fused quartz glass). The electrical connection to the photo-anode is provided by a Copper foil contact facing the sample from the front (i.e. touching the photo active film). The Copper contact stays dry during the experiment as it is located out of the sample sealing O-Ring outer diameter. The cathode (counter electrode) and reference electrode are mounted in a lid. The cell elements are made of PEEK. It well fits aqueous (EPDM/FKM O-Rings) and organic solvent (FFKM O-Rings) electrolyte requirements. The construction is gas-tight having gas inlet and outlet, which can be used to bubble the solution and evacuate gases from the chamber.Another version of this cell equipped with magnets instead of adjustable hook clamps is available.
